Rainy Day Picnic

The kolwinska's were so kind to open their home to Mr. Kolwinska's American Masterpieces class. We all went over for a picnic dinner and a study session for the final tomorrow. It was so much fun! I enjoyed good food, had fun with friends and learned alot while I was at it! Thanks to Julie's quick thinking we were able to take a quick snapshot of all of us together after dinner! So fun! I hope I do well! (oh, and I hope I do well in National Government too! Pray for me!!!)

Shopping In Mad Town!

It's officially funday wednesday! After three grueling weeks of summer school Jenn and I have decided to declare this our first fun day! After class we ran out to the car, changed real fast and headed out to Madison for some hard core shopping! Jenn and I are such a nerds, she wanted to take a picture with a road sign that says "Marshall" so we stopped on the highway got out to the car to take the picture on the side of the road! I wish I could post my picture up here! It's so funny! We had a wonderful chinese food lunch! :) YUM! The we walked around the mall for a while. I got Matty a present! Yay me! I'm pretty much the best girlfriend ever! He is going to love it! Then we went downtown and did some more fun shopping! Then before we left Jenn decided to take me to this really nice botanical garden. I was definitely all about it until... this crazy swooping bird decided to attack me! It definitely attacked me. I jumped on top of my head and started scratching me! I freaked out so bad! I'am not a nature girl, as hard as I try I just wont ever be, Jenn Wetzel, nature woman extraordinaire! We headed home just before church and got ready really quick for our wednesday night service which we throughly enjoy as the storm rolled in. It was quite the storm! The sky was green and the clouds were in the weirdest shapes I've ever seen! I thought for sure we were getting a tornado...but we didn't. Praise the Lord! :) It was such a fun day and I'm so glad Jenn and I were finally able to have fun together when it wasn't super late at night or while doing homework! :) Yay! I love you Jenn, I'll miss you a million times a million this summer!

Summer Plans!

I have a job! I'm so excited! As some of you know I have been seeking employment for this summer as I will sadly not be returning to the most wonderful place in the entire world, Northland. (May-August Only) So many friends are headed up that way for the next couple months and I'm completely jealous! :) It's going to be an awesome summer up there! (it always is!) I have been praying about a job for a while and I just recently go ahold of a really nice day care close to where I live that runs an excellent summer program! It is exactly what I was looking for! It's not day care as in playing with babies all day (which isn't too bad, but not exactly what I was looking for) I'll actually be with school age kids! We have themed weeks and go on fun field trips! It's so fun! :) I get to start right away when I get home and you know me, I never like to waste time so it'll be great! Another added bonus is that I'll be working with my sister, whom I love dearly and never get to see! I love her so much and miss her all the time! I'm excited about growing close this summer and having a blast working together with kids! Yay for summer! I'm finally excited!

Oh and for the record.... 3 days until I see my sweet Matthew! Yay! :)

One Sweet Ride

This evening Jenn and I decided to go for a bike ride. This is something I definitely haven't done since....um...jr. high? It's been forever! Regardless it was still lots of fun! In Maryland (where I grew up) it's required by law for all bike riders under 18 to wear helmets and so I felt like I was living life on the edge. Jenn made fun of me when I asked "What about our helmets?!" I'm such a dork. Anyway we rode our bikes to visit meagan which was lots of fun and then we just rode around the neighborhood including going up this super huge-o-normus hill and off-road biking through construction. Okay, so it probably wasn't off-roading but we were definitely on dirt, Jenn got stuck in mud about 4 times, not to mention we were so dirty when we got home. I wish I would have had a camera to take pictures but unfortunately I didn't. :( It was lots of fun!

Freshmen Friends

It's hard to believe I'm a senior now. It seems like just yesterday I was packing up our van for my trip down to BJ. I brought every single material possession I owned you would have thought I was moving into a house. I remember getting there and finding my dorm room and being thrilled! So thrilled in fact that I gave up staying with my parents at the hotel (with a pool) to stay in my dorm room all by myself. I'm such a nerd. I had the best roommates--Christie and Terase. They were so patient with me. I am ashamed to say that I was the typical out-of-control, crazy, giddy, hyper, freshman girl. I wish I wasn't but what can I say--it was a growing experience. All that to say that I got an unexpected email from a dear friend of mine. My best friend freshman year, Aimee, randomly sent me pictures today of her. It was so good to hear from her. We had so much fun and made so many memories from saturday lunches, bad blind dates, homestar videos, getting ready for artist series, assigned seats in the library, practicing speeches, spiritual encouragement, walmart stories, to crying in the hallway the night before commencement because we didn't know when we'd see each other again. Oh, I miss Aimee so much! This May it's been 2 years since I've seen her sweet, smiley face and the crazy thing is that it feels like just yesterday I was hugging her goodbye. Where does the time go!? I love you Aimee! Thanks for the pictures! They were a definite encouragement!

Rainy Days

It's a rainy day in Wisconsin. I love rain! I love loud fun thunderstorms! and the smell of the outside after a summer rain! When I was little I would sit on the porch of my grandmothers house next to daddy and he would draw pictures for me while we watched it rain. I remember always being a little apprehensive about sitting outside where I could hear the thunder so clearly. No, it wasn't the lightning I was afraid of, I liked that, it was the thunder that I was always afraid of. I always felt that because I was outside it could "get" me. I was definitely an odd kid. :) Once the thunder and lightning stopped my sister and I would run around outside in the rain and get all wet. We had fun, daddy always let us do "fun" things. Things that weren't neccesarily bad but things that mom would probably prefer that we not do. Happy Rainy Day, enjoy it!

Summer School and The Old Man and the Sea...

Summer school is officially in session and after 2 1/2 hours of American Masterpieces I feel that this is going to be quite the adventure! While it doesn't feel as scary as it did when I read the syllabus I do still feel a bit apprehensive. Mr. Kolwinska is full of energy ALL THE TIME so that helps a bit. I sit by friends and that helps alot! The reading will probably be killer, but in the words of E. D. Hirsch I am becoming "acculturated and developing an understanding of what culture values and accepts." As to the nature of my picture, The Old Man and the Sea, it's the happy little book I'm reading for my literary analysis. Fun Stuff!? I hope so. Anyway I'm off to look for some sources and start my National Government directed study. Yay! Happy First Day of Summer School! :)

Graduation Day

The day awaited by many after several long years of hard work has come. It's graduation day and I can't say that I'm not jealous...because I am! :( I'm so proud of my friends and their accomplishment. They've made it through their college career and are now moving on.
But part of me just wants to graduate and move on too. I'm enjoying college life, I really am, but about now I'm just burned out and ready to move on too. Oh well, three semesters left. (And only two of which I will be in classes!)
Overall it was a pretty fun day! :) Jen, Matthew and I went early to save good seats for graduation. Meagan graduated today so we needed good seats to take pictures. Graduation wasn't the most interesting 3 hours of my life but I'm sure it was exciting for the graduates!
Lunch in the dinning common was craziness afterwards but still fun. I went back to my room and checked out of my dorm. Moving all my things out. Never to return..sad..and yet pretty exciting the new dorm is sweet!!!! :) Hooray for 3rd floor girls! Then it was on to the open houses! We visited Meagan's, Val, Bobby, and Nic's, Adam's, and then ended at the Lingle's for Nik's. Contrary to popular belief Open houses aren't that bad. It was actually kind of fun.
But the fun doesn't end there, no there's never a dull moment with my new adopted family for the next three weeks! :) We went out to dinner to taco bell (mmm!) for dinner and after we finished Heather accidentally spilled her water on Jenn, to which Jenn responded by pouring her water on Heather, to which Heather responded by taking my cup and throwing it at Jenn. They
definitely had a water fight in the middle of Taco Bell. Explaining the above picture of Jenn with a mop in Taco Bell....fun times!

stopping to smell the roses...

Life on campus after school has let out and most everyone has left is pretty boring to say the least. I'm not complaining, this life of homework-free happiness does have it's benefits. For the last two days I've stayed up as late as I have so desired. Slept in as late as I have so desired. When I wake up I lounge in bed and read (for my personal enjoyment no required reading for me--yet) for a few hours. When I do finally get up I take forever to get ready... just because I can. Yesterday my dear friend Julie and I even took time to stop and smell the roses.. or flowers on the the tree outside the gym.. regardless it's definitely not something I'd normally do. I'm enjoying this "boring" life for now as summer school is T-minus 3 days away! SCARY!

my best friends jen...

These are my two best friends Jen-- ok so one's actually Jenn and the other is Jenni but I love them both a million times a million and I have no idea how I'm going to live without them this summer! We've had so many fun times this semester from snacking in artist series, to rollerskating, to nearly dying driving 100 mph through a construction site (on the highway!) to forking faculty/staff yards. I love these girls! Thanks so much for all the memories! I LOVE YOU!!!

just a novice

This whole blogging thing is completely new to me. I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing but it's worth a try. I'm excited! yay! :) It's summer time and its easy to lose track of friends hopefully this endeavor will prevent you from losing me. hehe! Free: a picture of my favorite first puppy--Barney! Isn't he adorable in all those tulips! I love him!
