City Girl

Today I went downtown to one of the best cities in the world to get myself all set up for work. (exciting!) In the morning Daddy and I rode the train into Union Station. Daddy's job is in DC, but it's nice to imgine that his job was only an ulterior motive for holding my hand as I nervously entered the busy commuter side of the city. In the past Washington has been a destination for amusement whether it be the smithsonians or a monument of some sort. But today, I did the whole brave city girl thing riding the metro and walking around town taking care of business, and I loved every last single moment of it. I loved being lost in the hurried crowds of people all heading towards equally important purposes. I loved the crowded metro, the congested sidewalks, the sychronized trips across crosswalks. There's a certain enjoyment in being caught up in the anonymity of crowds. When I'm walking from place to place I'm not me, I am simply an entity of a mass moving towards a hundred different distinct locations. It was a fairly sucessful day accomplishing much and taking satisfaction in that accomplishment.

a little Vacation!

I love these girls!
we're sooo hungry!
no fortune for me :(

Sometimes you just need a little break. We needed to get away so...we did! :) After classes on Friday Li, Taryn, Heidi and I ran away to Milwaukee for a little vacation night! :) We had so much fun freezing in the park, matchy matching, earaches, searching for a Thai restaurant, checking out the posh Brazilian place, eating LOTS of Chinese food, coffee, our awesome hotel, swimming, having fun doing absolutely nothing, a leisurely breakfast then back to school in time to get already for wonderful night! :) more on that later...

Relativity...

So, this morning my friend comes in and says "wow! it's beautiful out today! It's warm!" excitedly I get ready to go up to brunch and once outside I realize she's right! It is an absolutely beautiful spring day here in Wisconsin! Maybe that little groundhog was right, and spring will come soon! After lunch I decided to check online to see what the temperature actually was. Much to my surprise I found that the current temperature of Watertown, WI is currently 23 degrees! What!? 23 degrees! That’s still below freezing! I can't believe that!

It's amazing how we adapt to cold weather! Where once 23 degrees was dreadfully cold it's now a spring day...only light jacket necessary! Okay, maybe that's a little exaggerated but seriously 23 degrees feels great!

Running...

Over the last school year I've decided to take up running again, something I did a lot of in high school but not so much since college. After talking to Li (a beloved friend and experienced runner) I have realized that running is my "sport." Running is great; it doesn't require a lot of coordination nor any talent whatsoever. And the best part is that it's something that I can actually get better at! I love it!

Tonight Heidi and I decided to go out together for a run--in the snow! It was such a blast! It was great to get out and for the first time in a while actually enjoy the snow. It was great feeling the snow fall around us, and seeing it lying beautifully on the ground as we ran leaving our hurried footprints behind.
When we got back from our run we decided to play in snow…hence the silly picture on the snow pile! :)

Nothing Like Bonding....

...by running around and fighting over chairs! 3rd floor has 4 new faces and to welcome them tonight we played musical chairs down the length of the hallway to a "Popular" song. :) It was fun especially when the "competitive" spirits came out in everyone. haha!

this one is for my sweet friend leah! happy birthday! LOVE YOU! enjoy ALL your presents!

Welcome Back?

I'm back here at school and this semester is already proving to be a challenge. Philippians 4:4&6 are familiar verses but have been of a particular comfort to me these last few days.

"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice...do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."

How good the Lord is to hear our prayers and so faithfully answer them. Thank you to all of you who were praying. I am sincerely grateful.
